Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Major General Charles Ashe Windham (1810-1870), Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of General Sir Charles Ashe Windham, standing, in cocked hat and uniform, sword, guns and shells against his right leg. Son of Vice-Admiral William (Lukin) Windham and Anne Thellusson. Married Marianne Catherine Emily Beresford, daughter of Admiral Sir John de la Poer Beresford, 1st Bt. and Harriet Elizabeth Peirse, on 1 March 1849. He died on 2 February 1870
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
