Ceramic, Staffordshire, Emperor Napoleon III, Emperor of France (1808-1873) and the Empress Eugénie, consort of Napoleon III, Emperor of France (1826-1920), Staffordshire Pottery. Ful-length Staffordshire figures of Napoleon III, standing in plumed cocked hat, uniform and trousers (right) and the Empress Eugenie standing, bare-headed, in low bodice, flounced skirt and overskirt; her hand on his right forearm (left).

Provenance

part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
