Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Grace Darling (1815-1842), Staffordshire Pottery. Ful-length Staffordshire figure of Grace Darling. Two people in a small boat, Grace sit in the stern and faces the man with her hands raised and clasping. Behind them a rocky coast, with a lighthouse in the centre, with a cottage to the left. The cottage has two doors and a window on the ground floor, and only one window, centred, above, with a curved roof over it.
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
