Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Richard (Dick) Turpin (1706-1739) on Horseback, Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of Dick Turpin on his horse Black Bess facing right. In tricorn hat athwartships, long coat with large ermine cuffs , breeches and knee-boots. A pistol in his right hand.
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
