Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, John Philip Kemble (1757-1823) as Hamlet in William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of John Philip Kemble as Hamlet, standing, in round hat with three plumes, short trunks and hose, a cloak edged with ermine over both shoulders. A broad ribbon passes from his right shoulder across his tunic. Left hand holds a skull and right hand points to it.

part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
