Ceramic, Staffordshire, William Penn (1644-1718), Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of William Penn, standing, in broad-brimmed hat, long coat, breeches, and stockings. Right hand holds a deed, with seal attached, presumably the letters patent for his American lands.

part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
