Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Sir Robert Peel, 2nd Bt MP (1788-1850) on Horseback, Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure, Sir Robert Peel, on horse with docked tail facing left. In top hat and civilian dress, a cloak over his right shoulder. Prime Minister 1834-5 and 1841-6. In 1864 repealed the Corn Laws.
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
