Ceramic, Staffordshire, Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and later Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1844-1900), Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of Prince Alfred, standing, bare-headed, in naval costume. Right hand on a capstan, left holding a hat. A coil of rope near his left foot.

Provenance

part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
