Summary
Ceramic, Staffordshire, Prince Albert, Prince Consort (1819-1861), Staffordshire Pottery. Full-length Staffordshire figure of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, standing, bare-headed, in uniform and trousers, plumed hat, cloak and epaulettes, with lion and unicorn beside his feet. Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (1819-61) married Queen Victoria in 1840 and was created Prince Consort in 1857.
Provenance
part of collection built up by Thomas Balston (d.1967). He wrote about the collection in Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Age, 1958.
