Summary
30 hour striking lantern clock, by T. Watts of London. No.3708, c.1750. Brass case with side frets. The original steel spurs on the back feet are missing, as is almost all the alarm mechanism. 30 Hour striking Lantern clock by T Watts, London, no 3708 c 1770. 2 train movement with verge escapement and bob pendulum. Locking plate striking and with alarm. Lead weight supported on continuous rope. Brass case, break arch dial, rococo style spandrels, brass chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and quarters marked on inner ring. Side “dolphin” side frets at top. Note: the weight is a later replacement as is the hand. The original steel spurs on the back feet of the clock are missing as is almost all the alarm mechanism. T Watts is recorded simply as a clockmaker in the 18th century. C 1770 TEST
