Summary
German New Testament from 1773 bound in an ornate perforated scroll worked silver-gilt, and chased. Cover with two clasps, hinged to the back cover. Front and back spines are hinged. The outside edges of the leaves are gilded. Inside the front and back cover is a red and gold embossed paper decorated with flowers. On the cover is a cream oblong piece of paper stuck on with: NEW TESTAMENT - / Zurich 1778 / Perforated scroll work, silver-gilt / chased, German. 17th century. The front page has been translated: The whole New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ completely translated into German from the Greek with a short summary of each chapter and its divisions. On the top of this page, handrwritten in pencil: 1878 / no 32 / 43508. Also inside the back leaf written in pencil: No 1878.
