[i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Ellys], with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "A-ε¹-" [i.e. uppercase alpha-epsilon¹ = Greek numbers 1-5¹]. Bookplate removed from front pastedown. Binding: late seventeenth-century plain and broadly sprinkled calf over boards, blind ruled and tooled to a Cambridge-panel design; gilt roll pattern on board edges; five raised bands, repeated gilt flower stamp in compartments with gilt title "BVRTONS | LEICEST | SHIRE" on tan leather label; comb and swirl marbled endpaper; red sprinkled edges.
