Binding: Seventeenth-century laced-case vellum over boards with extended fore-edge; gilt centrepiece containing armillary sphere within gilt frame with cornerpieces, mitred to gilt foliate border; gilt ruled spine; gilt edges; two green silk ties (upper ties lost). Rebacked. Typed conservation note between lower endleaves signed by Nicholas Pickwoad, 14 January 1991. Spine fragments adhered to lower pastedown. In book shoe.
