Eighth thousand.. 212p.. ill... 8vo. Inserted between pages 80-81, 32cm folded and glued yellow piece of paper (torn) with red border and central [publisher's?] twin shield and branch device. Provenance: in ink on front flyleaf recto, inscription: 'Louie Upcher with love from ALH. [?] New Years Day 1863'. Binding: nineteenth-century red-brown wave grain cloth over boards, gilt fillets to form borders, gilt central device and lettering on upper boards, blind on lower boards. Gilt ruled and lettered spine.
Provenance
Acquired by the National Trust in 1986 with the aid of bequests from E.L. Elliot, H. Ridler, D.E. Swiffen and Alice M. Weeks, grant-aid from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Countryside Commission and funds raised by the East Anglian Coast & Countryside Appeal, and an endowment from Mildred Cordeaux, a cousin of Thomas Upcher.
