Inserted between back flyleaf and back pastedown, 18cm piece of lined paper (folded), handwritten in blue ink, biographical story titled 'Catherine of Liverpool', [possibly Catherine ‘Kitty’ Wilkinson (née Seaward; 1786–1860)]. Inserted between pages viii and 1: 1cm dried leaf. Pages 23-4 torn. In blue ink around central indent on back pastedown: 'indocti disgrani amnet meminisse peri' [misspelling of 'Indocti discant ament meminisse periti', motto from publisher's device on lower boards]. Annotations in blue ink on back flyleaf verso. Provenance: In blue ink on front pastedown: 'G Delworth 1869'. In pencil on front flyleaf recto 'Miss Wright Barwell Hinckley' and 'Miss Wright 23rd Sep. 1867'. Binding: full tan leather with blind embossed decoration and lettering. Pale orange endpapers.
