Provenance: in black ink at head of title, inscription: 'for Douglas and Thomas from Geoffrey recording a weekend at Sheringham House July 1967'. [poss. Thomas Upcher, Douglas Fitzpatrick, Sir Geoffrey Harmsworth]. Under the author name, inscription continues: 'as told to Geoffrey Harmsworth and written at Horsey House [?], Norfolk June 1932'. Binding: twentieth-century publisher's ivory dust wrapper (very worn) over red cloth over boards, illustrated with coloured portrait on upper wrapper, image of collaged newspaper clippings on lower wrapper, lettered in black and orange.
Provenance
Acquired by the National Trust in 1986 with the aid of bequests from E.L. Elliot, H. Ridler, D.E. Swiffen and Alice M. Weeks, grant-aid from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Countryside Commission and funds raised by the East Anglian Coast & Countryside Appeal, and an endowment from Mildred Cordeaux, a cousin of Thomas Upcher.
