A new edition /. adorned with plates.. xxiv, 262 p., 7 leaves of plates :. ill. ;. 24 cm. 7cm piece of front flyleaf cut out and missing. Inserted between pages 216 and 217, 5.5 cm piece of fine twisted string. Inserted between pages 130 and 131, 2.5 cm piece of torn paper. Small pencil marks pages 61, 67, 74, 76, 78-79, 99, 121 and 132. Provenance: Adhered to front pastedown, bookplate 'Abbot Upcher Esqr. Sheringham'. Handwritten in black ink on front flyleaf verso, inscription 'Arthur C. W. Upcher from his grand mother 1857.' Binding: full nineteenth-century straight grained red Morocco with gilt fillets to form decorative borders. Five double raised bands with gilt tooling and decorative panels, gilt lettering. Gilt Greek key tooling on board edges, marbled endpapers, gilt edges.

Acquired by the National Trust in 1986 with the aid of bequests from E.L. Elliot, H. Ridler, D.E. Swiffen and Alice M. Weeks, grant-aid from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Countryside Commission and funds raised by the East Anglian Coast & Countryside Appeal, and an endowment from Mildred Cordeaux, a cousin of Thomas Upcher.
