Elliott, his tutor & his friend / as a memorial of his high hope, & deep interest / in his pupil's future life / and of many studies in the highest parts of classical literature, / strenuously & happily pursued together.' [i.e. from the Revd Henry Venn Elliott (1792-1865) to Henry Goulburn (1813-1843) son of Henry Goulburn (1784-1856)]. Binding: Dutch binding, probably an Amsterdam school prize. Eighteenth-century vellum, gilt-rolled, with borders and central stamp including the arms of Amsterdam; 5 raised bands, spine gilt-tooled and unlettered; green textile ties.
