Manuscript inscription on recto of front endleaf: "Repaired 1960"; on verso of second front endleaf: [1] "Verax" [underlined] in hand of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys; [2] "Clement Walker / Prynne, pp. 2, [up arrow], 50 [right pointed arrow]". Binding: seventeenth-century full dark brown calf inboard binding (rubbed) with double blind fillet to form a border with intersecting corners and double blind fillet lines parallel near spine. Single gilt fillet along board edges (worn). Recessed supports; rebacked (1960) in calfskin, smooth spine with blind double tooled lines and publication date tooled in gold directly on to spine. Turned-in with no pastedown; outside hook endleaf made of folded sheet at both ends. Sewn on to 3 supports, laced-in. Plain leaf edges.
