Manuscript inscription, possibly in John Mitchell's hand [i.e. librarian to Ellys], on title page: "θͩ" [i.e. theta with superscript "d" = Greek number 9 shillings]. Binding: nineteenth-century full calf over boards, triple gilt fillet border; gilt roll pattern along board edges; five false raised bands edged with double gilt lines, green goatskin labels with gilt title, author, and publication dates; comb pattern marbled pastedown and endpaper with additional endleaves; sewn on three supports, two laced-in.
