Manuscript inscription on upper flyleaf (possibly by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys): "a'p.120 malplacè / libri unoci[?] 449"; on lower endleaf: "vioc[?] pag.120". Manuscription annotation, e.g. p. 174. Binding: eighteenth-century plain brown calf over boards with gilt double fillet border and gilt fleurons at the corners. Gilt roll pattern on board edges. Sewn on to four supports; raised bands. Endbands with front beads. Gold-tooled spine with gilt label and vol. number lettered directly onto spine. Blue and orange sprinkled edges. Plain pastedowns; endpapers.
