Manuscript inscription on upper flyleaf, possibly by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys: "libri nuovi 226". Manuscription annotation, e.g. p. 146, 255, 415. Binding: eighteenth-century plain brown calf over boards with gilt double fillet border and gilt fleurons at the corners; central panel of blind double lines and floral roll pattern with blind fleuron cornerpieces. Blind roll pattern on board edges. Sewn on to four supports; raised bands, four supports laced in. Endbands with front beads. Gold-tooled spine with gilt vol. number and publication year lettered on green goatskin label. Red and brown sprinkled edges; plain pastedowns; endpapers.
