Provenance
The book was printed in 1679 and insciptions on the title page suggest it had two owners before it was acquired by Edward Phelips V (1725-97). It was bound and decorated after the mid 1780s and probably retained in the Montacute House library until the time of William Robert Phelips (1846-1919). It was likely dispersed by sale sometime after the Phelips family vacated Montacute in 1911. After that its whereabouts are unknown until it was sold at Bloomsbury Auctions in 2010 and offered for sale at Lawrences Auctioneers in 2024, lot 243. Purchased through auction sale by the National Trust for Montacute in March 2024.
