The Preface to Saint Mark has been bound in after the divisional half-title to the Commentary (between sigs. k4 and A1). Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754) in Genesis only: Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Eighteenth-century sprinkled sheep over boards on four raised bands plus two false ones; gilt spine tooling and numbering; red-brown title label; gilt roll on board edges; red sprinkled edges. Old water stains to textblock throughout. Bottom corner of back cover has leather from next volume on shelf stuck to it (due to old water damage?).
