Binding: eighteenth-century English mottled calf with dark stain sprinkled over a ground of alternating green and red patches in lines; unusual roll border with eight calligraphic cartouches (including two birds) combined with circles containing flowers and leaves. The roll is repeated on all edges and turn-ins. Another exotic, calligraphic-style bird on the spine which has red and blue labels; green markers; gilt edges; red and yellow headbands, wave-marbled endleaves.
