Binding: eighteenth-century French red morocco gilt; arms of the comte de Provence on covers; flat spine with two green lettering-pieces; blue silk marker, red, white and blue headbands, gilt edges, blue watered-silk linings. Attributed to a binder of thte Le Monnier family on the evidence of the drawer-handle and wedge pallet and the cloven pink on the spine, as on the binding signed by the veuve Le Monnier (Schiff, Signed bindings, pl. 29).
