Binding: nineteenth-century full brown goatskin (rubbed and scratched); blind fillet border and sewing support lines; gilt strapwork centrepiece stamp; gilt rolls on board edges and on turn-ins; spines gilt with fleurons, title, author, vol. number and contents; gilt edges; combed marbled endpapers. Binder's ink-stamp on verso of front free endpaper: 'Bound by Riviere' [i.e. bound 1840-ca. 1860 in London by Robert Riviere (1808-1882)]. Vols. 3, 5-7 with some water staining on covers from 2002 flood; vol. 8 with extensive water staining on covers.
