Ephemera: folded leaf of paper loosely inserted at front, containing what appears to be a manuscript rent list written in Latin in a seventeenth-century hand for the town of Thaxted in Essex, containing a list of names and their addresses. Provenance: library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Binding: French[?] late seventeenth-century full mottled calf; sewn on five supports; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine with fillet, roll and stamp panels; brown leather spine label with gilt title 'Persecution des Hongrois. MS.'; red and brown sprinkled textblock edges.
