Provenance: armorial bookplate, lettered "William Lukin" [i.e. Vice-Admiral William Lukin, later William Lukin Windham (1768 –1833)]. The first and second free endpapers of each volume have been pasted together to hide the inscription of "Anne Thellusson" [i.e. Anne (Lukin) Windham, née Thellusson (1775-1849)]. Binding: nineteenth-century calf; double gilt fillet borders; five false bands; gilt on spine; gilt lettered & numbered black spine labels: Life of Catharine II.
