Bookseller's engraved pictorial ticket (v.1): Wm Wilson, bookseller & stationer at Homer's head, no.6 Dame street, the corner of Palace Street Dublin. Pencil ms. calculations on v.5 flyleaf. Provenance: eighteenth-century armorial bookplate of Humphrey Repton [1752-1818] (in all vols. except v.6; only fragment survives in v.1). Inserted leaf (v.2) of Felbrigg blind-stamped headed paper with typescript note regarding Repton provenance and suggestion that it "was probably bought by Repton during his stay in Ireland in 1783, where he accompanied William Windham of Felbrigg ..."; note signed "R.W. Ketton-Cremer" [i.e. Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)]. Binding: eighteenth-century green calf crushed morocco, with gilt Greek key border; gilt tooled spine, with wreath and floral motifs on red inlays, gilt lettered & numbered on red spine labels: Gibbon's Roman Empire ... Marbled endpapers and edges.
