Provenance: manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf: "M. 2 vol. 2d. vol. is on the Corinthians" [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: late seventeenth-century or early eighteenth-century quarter-bound alum-tawed pink dyed sheepskin (faded to white on spine), with two sheets of marbled paper of different designs over both boards; stab-stitching visible in gutter margin of endpapers; untrimmed bookblock edges.
