Provenance: manuscript inscription on vol. 1 front fly-leaf: "M. 2. vol." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf (water-damaged); sewn on five raised bands; double gilt fillet border; gilt fillet decoration on spines; gilt title on remnants of brown leather label and gilt vol. number on spines. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
