Provenance: eighteenth-century armorial bookplate, lettered: William Windham Esquire [i.e. originally used by William Windham (1717-1761); in this case probably William Windham III (1750-1810)]. Inscribed on recto of first free endpaper: "E Rayner"; on verso: "W: Windham emptus Devonice, Mens Julio Ann. 1779" [i.e. William Windham III (1750-1810)]. Binding: seventeenth-century calf; triple blind fillet borders, quintuple on spine edge; on four raised cords; blind hatching at head and foot of spine; gilt lettered direct with ornaments: Vossius De Arte Grammat: Small oval label at foot of spine, marking faded and illegible.
