The plates are bound before the printed text, i.e. 'Recueil de cent estampes' precedes 'Explication des cent estampes'. Worm damage in gutter margin on plates 31-39, 61-100, [2] and throughout 'Explication des cent estampes'. Ephemera: scrap of folded paper loosely inserted at plate 73 as bookmark, containing manuscript inscription in eighteenth-century[?] hand: "To Mrs Hubbard". Provenance: manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf: "M. 102. plates" [i.e. catalogue code and count of plates, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: eighteenth-century full mottled calf; sewn on six raised bands; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine; gilt title 'Habillemens du Levant' on brown goatskin label on spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges. French curl on Turkish pattern marbled endpapers.
