[i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]; with MItchell's manuiscript code at foot of leaf: "ζ½." [i.e. zeta½ = Greek number 7½]. Manuscript inventory number on verso of front free endpaper: "n: 39". Further inscriptions on verso of front free endpaper have been erased. Binding: eighteenth-century full red gold-tooled goatskin; sewn on six raised bands; double and single fillet border and inner panel, the inner panel with gilt cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges and turn-ins; gold-tooled spine, with stamp, roll and fillet decoration; gilt title stamped directly on spine. Gilt textblock edges. Wide comb pattern marbled endpapers.
