Although the Advertisement states that this octavo edition has only two charts, the quarto having more, this copy has three: one before the titlepage, plates XIII and XLI. With a pencil note on p. 110: 'This passage is the source of Cowper's poem "The Castaway" ' and a note to this effect on final endpaper. Provenance: inscribed: "Cremer Cremer Beeston Regis" [i.e. Rev. Cremer Cremer (1795-1867)]. Binding: eighteenth-century polished calf, sewn onto five bands; gilt hatching on board edges; red spine label: Anson's Voyage, red-stained edges.
