Provenance: manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf: "153 Plates" [i.e. count of plates, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Manuscript code in pencil on front fly-leaf: "1:D:6". Binding: late seventeenth or early eighteenth-century full mottled calf; sewn onto five raised bands; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine; gilt title 'Recueil de piece de' on brown sheepskin label and author statement 'Le Pautre et autres' lettered direcly on spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
