Vol. 2 has two title pages, both without the engraved vignette and both without "de la vie de l'auteur" in the edition statement; first title page (bound as leaf [pi]1) is otherwise identical, apart from volume designation, to title pages of vols. 1 and 3; second title page (bound as leaf a2) has minor differences: "corregée" in edition statement, "Tome premier" in volume statement, and "et ce [sic] vendent" in imprint; leaf bound as a1 is blank; wanting table of contents on leaves a1-2 as found in other copies; leaf A1r does not have engraved head-piece as found in other copies. Vol. 3 imperfect: wanting leaves a1-4, containing table of contents; leaf A1r does not have engraved head-piece found in other copies. Provenance: manuscript former shelfmark on front pastedowns: "D.2.2-4." [possibly in the hand of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: eighteenth-century full blind-panelled sprinkled calf; sewn on three supports; five raised bands; double blind fillet border; double blind fillet and floral roll pattern panel, with blind cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gilt title and vol. number on brown goatskin label on spines. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
