Shelved and uniform with two other volumes of collected plates of ornamental friezes, foliage, architectural views, gateways, furniture and other ornaments, etc., by Jean Le Pautre and others. Provenance: manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf: "60. Leaves" [i.e. count of the leaves of plates, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: late seventeenth or early eighteenth-century full mottled calf; sewn onto five raised bands; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine; gilt title 'Estamp & medail de Le' on brown sheepskin label and author statement 'Pautre fils & autre' lettered direcly on spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
