Provenance: manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf: "M. 50. Plates" [i.e. catalogue code and plate count, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Manuscript price on front fly-leaf: "1.10-0". Binding: eighteenth-century gold-tooled mottled and plain calf (rubbed, very worn); sewn on eight raised bands; double gilt fillet border with cornerpiece (bunch of grapes?) stamps forming an outer frame with mottled decoration; plain central panel of double gilt fillets and floral roll pattern with floral cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine, with floral stamp, roll and fillet decoration; gilt title on red goatskin label on spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
