Provenance: eighteenth-century sepia crest bookplate with motto: Nil deperandum. Thomas Anson Esqr. Shugborough [i.e. Thomas Anson, of Shugbrough (1695-1773)]; pasted over eighteenth-century early armorial bookplate of Richard Banner [Banner (b. 1696) of Little Aston Hall, sold library to Thomas Anson in about 1745]. F1381. Binding: seventeenth-century sprinkled calf; double blind fillet border; sewn onto five raised bands; gilt tooled spine (faded; spine label missing).
