Manuscript number in pencil on front fly-leaf: "5". Manuscript code in pencil on verso of front fly-leaf: "C v-q/d-w". Manuscript inscription at head of title page: "Bibliotheca Colbertina. /" [i.e. from the library of the great French bibliophile Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Marquis de Seignelay (1619-1683), Chief Minister to Louis XIV. Probably written in the hand of his librarian, Étienne Baluze (1630-1718). Colbert’s library was dispersed at a sale in Paris, 24 May-21 October 1728, and at two sales in London (23 April 1729 and 17 November 1735)]. Binding: seventeenth-century full plain parchment; sewn onto three sewing supports; manuscript title on spine.
