Early armorial bookplate (Franks *68 or *71) on verso of title page: 'The Right Honble. Charles Lord Halifax 1702', with arms of Montagu quartering Monthermer, coronet of a baron, griffin supporters and motto "Otium cum dignitate" [i.e. Charles Montagu, 1st Earl of Halifax (1661-1715)]. Binding: seventeenth-century full plain vellum over boards; sewn onto three vellum sewing supports; title stamped in black ink at head of spine: 'P. Labbe Thesaurus epitaphiorum'; foot of spine cracked, partially missing. Red and brown sprinkled textblock edges.
