Sp: Paint:" (instructions to the binder for the spine title?) and pencil lines on the other side. Manuscript former shelfmark in pencil on front pastedown: "Aa1". Manuscript former shelfmark in black ink on rear pastedown: "A1". Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf; sewn onto four sewing supports; double gilt fillet border; blind roll pattern along board edges; gilt fillets and gilt title label 'Lives of. Sp: Paint:' on spine. Red sprinkled edges on textblock.
