Lot 4416 in Hoym library sale catalogue 'Catalogus librorum bibliothecae illustrissimi viri Caroli Henrici comitis de Hoym ...' (Paris, 1738). Bought by Sir Richard Ellys for 4 livres according to his priced copy of the sale catalogue. Manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Manuscript number in red crayon on rear fly-leaf: "410". Binding: eighteenth-century full calf; armorial centrepiece stamp: arms of Karl Heinrich, Graf von Hoym (1694-1736); gilt roll pattern along board edges and on turn-ins; gold-tooled spine; gilt title on brown leather label on spine. Red and brown sprinkled edges. Marbled endpapers. Boyet and Du Seuil were Hoym’s binders.
