Bibliographic description

[8], 226, [22] p., [5] leaves of plates (1 folded) : ill. ; 4to. Running number: 6062. Provenance: armorial binding of the Langley family, of Langley in County Durham, and of Sheriff Hutton in Yorkshire: paly of six, crest out of a ducal coronet a panache of six ostrich feathers, helmet of an esquire. 'The stamp might be that of William Langley (d. 1651), of Stainton in Yorkshire, and Higham Gobiam in Bedfordshire, who was created a baronet 27 April 1641, and was descended from Langley, of Langley. The sixth baronet, Sir Henry Langley, died without issue (before 1724). Duff says that the stamp is that of Henry Langley (1611-1679), a Puritan divine, and son of Thomas Langley, a shoemaker of Abingdon in Berkshire. It is unlikely that he was armigerous' -- British Armorial Bindings (University of Toronto). Manuscript code on inside front board: "CA-BJ/f".
