[i.e. catalogue code and collation of plates, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Extensive manuscript Latin notes in light brown ink in an unknown eighteenth-century hand on both sides of vol. 1 front fly-leaf. Manuscript inscription at foot of vol. 2 front fly-leaf: "Tabb. 77-152" [i.e. collation note written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751)]. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf over boards; sewn on six raised bands; gold-tooled spines, with bird, floral and pomegranite stamps in fillet and dotted roll compartments, floral roll patterns at head and foot, and floral rolls along raised bands; gilt title 'Vailliant Familiae Romanae' on brown sheepskin label on spines; gilt vol. number stamped directly onto spines. Red and brown sprinkled edges.
