Leaf Aaa1 with burn marks. Provenance: manuscript number in left corner at head of front pastedown: "963". Manuscript number at head of letterpress title page (leaf A1): "Soctis. Jesv Mech. ex bib. Mal". Manuscript inscription at head of engraved title page: "Soctis. Jesu Mechliniae Ex ... [three or four words, illegible, possibly a personal name]" [i.e. from the Collegium Societatis Jesu Mechliniae (College of the Society of Jesus in Mechelen, Belgium). The college was established in 1615]. Binding: seventeenth- or eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf; six raised bands; gilt floral roll pattern on board edges; stained pattern on turn-ins; gold-tooled spine with floral stamp and roll decoration in compartments and along raised bands; gilt title 'Goltzii Sicilia et Graecia' on brown leather label on spine. Green and red sprinkled edges.
