Provenance: Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate, lettered "Erthig"; "Michell Bond St", with mark of cadency [associated with Simon Yorke III (1811-94) of Erddig, son of Simon Yorke II and Margaret Holland]. Binding: Eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf, double gilt fillet forming a border, sewn on three recessed cords. Five false raised bands, gilt tooling on spine. Brown leather spine label, lettered in gilt: "Nature display'd". Edges densely sprinkled red.

Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
