Provenance: eighteenth-century crest bookplate with motto: Nil deperandum. Thomas Anson Esqr. Shugborough [i.e. Thomas Anson, of Shugbrough (1695-1773) or perhaps Thomas Anson, created Viscount Anson & Baron Soberton, 1806 (1767-1818)]. Upper part of first free endpaper (inscription[?]) torn away. Binding: eighteenth-century calf, sewn onto five raised bands; gilt tooled spines; gilt lettered spine labels: Oeuvres de Racine (part missing).
